What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing, a type of alternative medicine. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a “universal energy” is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.

Dawn C, resident Reiki master, describes Reiki as the wind moving something. We don’t see the wind, but we can feel it moving and feel the effects of it. It’s like a radio signal. It’s always there. If you turn on the radio and tune in, there are many stations, just like there are many emotions, moods and frequencies in each of us. Reiki helps us to tune in to those vibrations, to those frequencies, and thoughts that embody emotions, to help us to process, heal, clear, balance and center.

Reiki guides us to think about who we are and how we want to connect and how we want to communicate. It’s an energetic vibration and force that connects us all. Reiki is always there, available for us; all we have to do is mindfully find that frequency and tune in. Reiki is like a litmus test for every single part of your emotional, physical and mental well-being. “Reiki is a beautiful tool, it is one of many use for self-care, reflection, and wellness. It is one of my favorite tools which I include in my ongoing self-care and practice, and if you have not tried it yet I encourage you to do so.”

Reiki is never invasive, it is always a beautiful gift to clear and balance, your life force energy. It helps people to feel supported, deeply relaxed and grounded. Reiki practitioners use their hands to direct and conduct your life force energy. It is widely used now in hospitals as it helps with anxiety, relief, pain and emotional support. Benefits can include deep relaxation, reduction in muscle tension and pain, accelerated wound healing and an embodied sense of well-being.

Give yourself a gift and join The Connection’s two weekly Reiki & Meditation classes with Dawn, Master Reiki practitioner on Tuesdays at 1:30 and Thursdays at 12 pm for a luxurious hour of self-care.
