A list of local resources providing assistance in our community:

  • CITY OF SUMMIT COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE stay up to date on information for county, state and federal assistance programs, testing sites, vaccine information and local opening/closure regulations.
  • GRACE (Giving and Receiving for our Community’s Essentials) operates a weekly food pantry with shelf-stable food, fresh produce, and household necessities at Summit Memorial Field’s Cornog Field House. This is available to anyone who lives, works, or worships in Summit. Please visit the website for current distribution details.
  • SAGE is offering assistance to homebound older adults who may need meals, even for a shorter period. Please call 908-273-5550 if you or someone you know can benefit from their services.
  • SHIELD OF SUMMIT A group of neighbors, over 100 strong, have volunteered to go grocery shopping and pick up prescriptions for Summit’s elderly and immune-compromised residents. To request help call 908-605-0014 or email smohelpingseniors@gmail.com.
  • THE CONNECTION Your Connection Team is committed to supporting your wellness, even from afar. We have compiled a library of live classes and videos from our adult and youth instructors to support your physical and mental wellbeing. Looking to help? The following organizations are in need: 

  • HOW WE CAN HELP There are a number of ways to help Atlantic Health System which includes Overlook and Morristown hospitals. Donations of equipment, financial support and making face masks are needed. Details and tutorials can be found here.
  • BRIDGES continues to serve people experiencing homelessness—those who have nowhere to shelter in place or isolate. You can support their efforts by purchasing items from their Amazon Wish List and making a donation.
  • Founded in Summit, THE COMMUNITY FOOD BANK, fights hunger and poverty and is experiencing increasing demand. Learn how you can help and donate here.
  • FRONT LINE APPRECIATION GROUP OF SUMMIT (FLAG), with help from Summit Police Athletic League (PAL,) is raising funds to provide meals from local restaurants to Overlook Medical Center staff who do not have access to the cafeteria during their long shifts. Info found here.
  • GRACE (Giving and Receiving for our Community’s Essentials) is accepting donations of cleaning supplies and toiletries. Drop off at the Summit UPS Store or at Memorial Field’s Cornog Field House by appointment. To volunteer to pack groceries and supplies, sign up here. Monetary donations to GRACE can be made through the Junior League of Summit.
  • SAGE is seeking support of homebound seniors with product donations accepted at 290 Broad Street, Summit (M-F, 9a-Noon only; please call 908-273-5554 upon arrival for a contactless dropoff):  Healthy Choice frozen meals, Low sodium soup, Toilet paper and tissues, Liquid hand soap, Lysol spray and Clorox wipes, Shampoo and toothpaste. You can also make a monetary donation here.
  • ST TERESA’S LOAVES AND FISHES PANTRY is seeking help to stock shelves with donations of pasta, pasta sauce, canned tuna/chicken, beef stew and hearty soups, rice, canned vegetables, instant coffee, oil, dried beans, cake mix or a pre-made non-perishable dessert, canned fruit, peanut butter, and new boxes of 13-gallon garbage bags. Drop off to the Parish Office Front Porch.
  • SUMMIT VOLUNTEER HUB Looking for a way to help a neighbor in need? Join the Facebook Group, Summit Volunteer Hub to connect with local organizations in need of volunteers and donors.
  • SUMMIT DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY PROGRAMS is collecting used sporting good items for the organization Leveling the Playing Field. Place items in the bin outside the Investors Bank Gym doors at the Summit Community Center, 100 Morris Ave.
