This summer I have had the privilege of working as a camp counselor for The Connection. I’ve seen our campers form a bond with their counselors that will carry on beyond these eight weeks of camp. Over the summer, The Connection’s counselors establish genuine relationships with each and every camper and also bring a wide variety of backgrounds and life experiences.
Here are some fun facts you may not have known about our multi-talented counselors!

Kelly Klaif (Assistant Director of SummerFun)
Kelly was born in China and lived there for a year. She understands the value of speaking a different language and keeping diversity in mind.

Tynia Lewis (SummerFun Counselor)
Tynia has been skydiving and scaled a mountain. Her extraordinary amount of adventure and courage has made her a great counselor at The Connection.

Daniela Wichik (Gymnastics Teacher)
Daniela’s family was born in Slovakia. Although she wasn’t born there herself, she is able to speak Slovakian. Daniela brings diversity and language to The Connection.

Perry Spiegel (Fit & Fun Counselor)
Perry joined the University of Delaware’s Summer Chior and has had the opportunity to travel throughout southern France and sing in historic cathedrals. Perry’s love for culture and adventure has made him a great role model and fun counselor.

Kaela Basmajian (SummerFun Counselor)
Kaela has donated her hair three times to Locks of Love, a charity that provides wigs to children who suffer from medical hair loss. Kaela plans to continue to donate her hair to help more children! Her kindness and willingness to help others has made her a fantastic counselor and a pleasure to have with us here at The Connection.

Jessica Fascenelli Weisenbach (Lights Camera Action Director)
Jessica has been dancing for 23 years. She was inspired by her cousin, also a dancer, to pursue her own dreams in performing arts. Jessica shares her love of dance by teaching at The Connection and keeps our campers moving and grooving with her energy and passion for the art.

Jana Huba (Yoga Teacher)
Jana has five frogs, one pig, one snake, and one turtle! Jana and her family occasionally bring them in to share their love of animals. So if you ever see Peppa the pig visiting The Connection, stop and say hello!
