Summer is quickly approaching and The Connection is getting excited for camp 2017! I am very eager to begin Guppies Camp in just a few short months. I loved getting to meet some of our newest Guppies at the Camp Open House in January. This year, The Connection is offering a NEW full day option for its youngest campers. Parents are now able to choose from a half day (9am-1pm) or a full day (9am-4:30pm) program. This is a great opportunity for first time campers to get the full day camp experience. Many of you may be thinking, “What are the benefits of sending my 3-year-old to a half or full day of camp?” Check out some of the great reasons below!
Socialization- Whether your child is currently attending a preschool daily or just few times a week, the Guppies program is a great place to experience the fun of summer camp in a structured setting. Children will be involved in many activities with their peers, creating friendships and fostering social-emotional growth. Each day, children will be learning new ways to interact with peers through sharing, playing, listening to stories, and crafts!
Fine and Gross Motor Development- Children attending the Guppies program will be building on their fine and gross motor skills. Throughout our day, the Guppies counselors will be incorporating activities to support the development of muscles to include throwing a ball, holding a crayon, jumping, skipping and many more.
Creating Connections- At The Connection, children will learn to make connections with peers and adults in a new and exciting environment. The Guppies will interact with peers, other aged campers, counselors, and enrichment activity staff. Summer camp is a wonderful place to build lasting friendships and try new things! For some, this may be their first group experience, which can be scary! The Connection’s caring and nurturing staff will help each child grow in comfort and confidence as the days progress.
The Connection has carefully crafted the Guppies program to be the perfect first time camp experience for 3-year-olds. Our Directors ensure a safe, engaging, and memorable experience for our Guppies. The Guppies program is designed to include all of the wonderful activities of SummerFun, but with a smaller group size and modified, age-appropriate activities. Our Guppies will love enrichment activities such as art, swimming, yoga, the gym, dance, and S.T.E.M.
We know how important swim lessons are for young children, so we have adjusted our schedule to give lessons to our morning Guppies instead of just the all-day campers! Lessons will be held later in the morning to give our 3 year olds a chance to get settled and enjoy some fun activities before heading to the pool.
