Lifeguard
The Connection in Summit is seeking Lifeguards to join our team. In this position you will:
- Monitor swimming areas and aids and protection to users of the pool and aquatic facility
- Ensure the safety of patrons of the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies as a lifeguard.
- Supervise and guard the pool and aquatic facility and ensures participants adhere to all Connection aquatic guidelines and procedures.
- Always presents professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service.
Requirements
- Lifeguard Certification
- First Aid and CPR certified
- Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aide effectively.
Hours
Monday – Friday 7am – 8pm (subs needed occasionally)
Saturday and Sunday – 7am – 5pm (weekend availability needed)

Water Exercise Instructor
The Connection in Summit, NJ, known for its excellent aquatic programs, is seeking an experienced Water Exercise Instructor to join our team. In this position:
- You will provide a challenging exercise routine in either deep or shallow water that utilizes all major muscle groups in the body and challenges the cardiovascular system.
- You will instruct the water exercise class in accordance with course description and curriculum goals established by Aquatics Director.
- Instruct each class participant in a way that he/she understands the class format and is exercising in a manner that is both beneficial and safe.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching water exercise classes
- First Aid and CPR required. Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aide effectively
- Lifeguard Certification preferred
Hours
Our current need is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am -11am (two 45-minute classes) with extra hours as a substitute available.

Our Gymnastics Summer Camp Supervisor oversees the daily operations, instruction, and supervision of the camp’s gymnastics program. Ensure the safety and well-being of campers while providing instruction in gymnastics skills. The Supervisor may also be responsible for planning activities, managing equipment, and communicating with parents or families.
Qualifications
- Gymnastics Experience: Extensive experience in gymnastics, ideally as a coach or instructor, is crucial.
- Teaching and Coaching Skills: Ability to effectively teach and coach gymnastics skills to various skill levels.
- Safety Knowledge: Understanding of gymnastics safety regulations and best practices.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with campers, parents, and staff.
- Organization Skills: Ability to plan and organize activities, update camp rosters, manage equipment, assist with camp counselor and staff schedules.

Dance Instructor (Sub)
The Connection, a community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ, is searching for highly motivated and enthusiastic Dance Instructor (Sub). In this role, you will:
- Instruct dance program classes in accordance with course description and curriculum using proper terminology and accurate verbal & physical representation.
- Create a fun and safe learning environment for the students.

Instructor must have 3:45pm and 4:45pm class availability for consideration.

Requirements
Dance in addition to beginner through intermediate tumbling teaching experience is required. Acrobatic Arts or comparable certification preferred. Additional training will be provided to the right candidate.

Social Service Coordinator, Part Time
The Connection, a community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ, is seeking a part time Social Service Coordinator to work with our afterschool enrichment programs. The ideal candidate has experience developing and implementing activities and events that strengthen and promote student and family success for participants in after school programs.
Responsibilities
- Develops, implements and participates, in conjunction with Site Directors and the Director of Enrichment Programs, age appropriate educational, enrichment, recreational and social services for students and families.
- Plans, develops and implements family activities and workshops for program participants on relevant topics with input from caregivers, the Director of Enrichment Programs and staff.
- Visits sites regularly and serves as a staff back-up in order to develop relationships with students and speak with caregivers when needed, as well as to assist Site Directors and Assistant Directors.
- Maintains appropriate records as required by the Director of Enrichment Programs and/or state funding sources
Requirements
The Social Service Coordinator must maintain strict confidentiality in performing the duties of the position. The Social Service Coordinator must also demonstrate the following:

Afterschool Program Director, Part Time
The Connection, a community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ, is seeking an experienced and responsible Afterschool Program Director. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and management of The Connection Afterschool Program located on-site at a Summit school or at The Connection.
Responsibilities
- Manage a 5 day afterschool program (2:45pm – 6:00pm) that supports The Connection’s mission and commitment to families.
- Train, supervise, and support part-time Program Assistants, fill sub assignments for the site when necessary.
- Create a daily schedule that includes homework help, free time, enrichment, and other activities.
- Maintains communication with parents of student regarding child’s progress and/or any issues.
- Attends workshops and trainings to meet licensing requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Teaching, Social Work or related field is preferred
- Experience managing part time support staff
- Background in planning fun, engaging activities for elementary aged youth
- Fun, active, and creative mindset toward working with children
- CPR certification- required within the first three months of employment
Hours
Monday – Friday 2:45pm – 6:00pm while school is in session (10 months), following the Summit Public Schools calendar.
Compensation
$18.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on experience.

CIT Volunteers (Counselors in Training)
The role of the CIT is to assist counselors during the camp day and act as a role model for children enrolled in the summer camp program to create a positive and safe environment.
- Age Requirement: 14-15 years old
- Commitment: We ask for a 4-week commitment for our CIT program. Summer camp runs for 9 weeks, June 23-August 22

Pathways Cooks Volunteers
Pathways Cooks is looking for dedicated volunteers to prepare, cook, and package meals to be delivered to women undergoing cancer treatment. The meal preparation will take place for 3-4 hours twice per week during the afternoon, days to be determined. The volunteers can come in one or both days. Pathways also needs drivers to pick up the meals and deliver them, locally, to the homes of women with cancer. Please contact Pathways if you are interested and for more information.
