Art in Autumn

October 2019

The Connection’s halls are a bit brighter this fall thanks to Pathways’ 10th Annual Art in Autumn Exhibit. 23 pieces of artwork, created by both novice and professional survivors/artists, are on display through October in celebration of ovarian and breast cancer awareness months.

A public wine and cheese reception was held on Thursday, October 3, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. to kick-off the event, with artists available for conversation. The collection includes pastels, watercolors, oil paintings, canvas, paper mosaics and photography. The artwork is for sale; artists are generously donating a percentage of the proceeds to benefit Pathways.

Pathways, one of the only local organizations that provide direct services to women with cancer, is committed to empowering women to recognize their strengths and encouraging them to make choices that enable them to become their own self-care advocates.

“Through art, women can find relief from the physical and emotional challenges of cancer treatment and its aftermath, and may achieve a sense of peace through the exploration of creative outlets,” states Lesley Andrews, Pathways Director.

Pathways, a program of The Connection, provides an oasis of hope for women with cancer. For 25 years, Pathways’ mission has remained the same: to provide support, education and wellness programs, free-of-charge, for women with cancer, creating a community in which shared experiences lead to personal growth and healing.
