Enrichment FAQ

REGISTRATIONPROGRAMMING

Q: What is the registration process?
A: For the 2026-2027 school year, we will be offering online registration for all Enrichment Programs. Your family will need an account with The Connection in order to register. It does not need to be an active account at time of registration. Click here to set up an account.

Q: When does registration begin?
A: March 3rd at 7:30 am

Q: I  have an account that is not active. Does it need to be active to enroll my child for aftercare?
A: A membership is not needed for registration but it is needed for participation. Once enrolled and off the waitlist, our Membership Services team will process the membership fee plus the deposit.

Q: Is there a registration fee?
A: While there is no registration fee, there is a required, non-refundable deposit of $200 that will later be applied towards your first month’s payment. The deposit plus membership fees (if applicable) will be charged at time of registration.

Q: How likely is it for a new student to register if existing students register prior?
A: Even though currently enrolled families are given the opportunity to register early, it does not mean that all families will stay in their same spots. We have 5th graders that will be graduating out of the program as well as changes in families’ needs.

Waitlists
If your child is on a waitlist, we will reach out to you if or when a spot becomes available. We can not predict what will happen year to year but we do typically see changes from March to August. We have even had changes in September. Enrollment also depends on our staffing which sometimes is not finalized until the start of school.

Q: What is the difference between In-School After School and After School held at The Connection’s main building?
A: Both programs follow a similar outline in that they have an opportunity for snack, homework & reading time, as well as centers and projects. However, at The Connection, students have access to classes such as dance, gymnastics & swim (for an additional fee). Due to this, the students are not all on the same schedule as they are when they are at the In-School programs. Students at The Connection do not get outside as much as the students at the In-School programs. It truly comes down to your family’s preference and needs.

Q: Similarly, I have a Kindergartner. Should I sign up for the program in their school or at The Connection?
A: Kindergartners tend to have a better experience and smoother transition into the long day when remaining at their schools. Having to ride the bus and co-mingle with older students sometimes can be intimidating for them.

Q: Where is the program held?
A: Our In-School programs are predominantly held in the cafeteria of the school. Wilson Primary Students are in the Multipurpose Room. Our programs also have access to the schools’ gymnasiums when they are available. At times, the school may need the cafeteria for an event. In that case, Site Directors will inform you of the alternate pick up instructions.

Our program held at The Connection’s Main Building (79 Maple Street) runs out of our dedicated Preschool rooms.

Q: What are the hours for aftercare?
A: Aftercare runs from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Families can pick up at their convenience. However, no programs are held after 6:00 PM, especially in the schools due to our contract with the Summit Public Schools.

Q: What happens if school closes early or schedules change due to weather? Do you still run Aftercare?
A: Delayed Opening: Aftercare will run as normal. Please allow extra time for travel. Pick-ups after 6:00 PM will incur a $2 per-minute late fee.

Early Dismissal: If Summit schools dismiss early, After School will not operate. Students must be picked up directly from their school at the designated early dismissal time.

School Closure at or Before 3:00 PM / After-School Programs Canceled
If school or after-school activities are canceled at or before 3:00 PM, Aftercare will not run. Children will need to be picked up at 3:00 PM.

Q: If my child is enrolled in in-school aftercare but has a class at The Connection, is transportation provided from the school to The Connection?
A: Unfortunately, no. The Connection bus spots are only for students enrolled in the program held AT The Connection’s main building.

Q: If my child is enrolled in a class offered through The Connection while attending in-school aftercare, will they return to aftercare after the class ends, or do they need to be picked up immediately following the class?
A: If a student is not enrolled in the program AT The Connection’s main building, they need to be picked up directly from the class. Connection After School staff are only responsible for students enrolled in the program held at The Connection.

Q: Is it possible for my child to transition between in-school aftercare and The Connection programs (for example, leaving in-school aftercare to attend a class at The Connection, or leaving The Connection to participate in school-based activities such as a school play or in-school enrichment classes)?
A: While we try to be as flexible as possible for our families, we can not always accommodate certain requests. Switches depend on availability in the other program.
