Scratch Jr. (Ages 5-8 yrs. old)

Scratch Jr. is a kid-friendly visual programming language where children create their own interactive stories, games, and animations. It’s designed to build foundational coding concepts such as sequencing, logic, problem-solving, and creativity in a fun and engaging way.

Makeblock mBot2 (Ages 9-13 yrs. old)
11:45am to 12:45pm
This hands-on class uses the Makeblock mBot2 robot to introduce students to robotics, coding, and engineering basics. Students will build, code, and test their robots while developing creativity, technical problem-solving, and STEM skills through fun, engaging projects.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jason Nelson (Founder/Developer) is a software engineer with a passion for teaching kids and teens. He started teaching at age 16 and has led coding workshops and classes in community spaces and libraries. Jason founded CodeMavericks to make coding accessible, fun, and confidence-building for learners of all ages — helping students develop problem-solving, creativity, and technical skills that go far beyond the screen.
