In this musical theatre workshop there will be a strong focus on how actors use their bodies and facial expressions to tell a story and create characters that pop off the page! Although it’s not required, the instructor, Samantha, welcomes actors to prepare for this workshop with pre-selected text or a song of their choice, as there will be time allotted for feedback and critique. This workshop will also include fun introductory theater games, acting movement exercises, as well as warmups. Whether your performer has done tons of shows or this is their first workshop, It’s sure to be a fun experience for actors of all levels! Open to the public. Registration required. $50 for members and $60 for non members

About the Instructor:
Samantha Gelnaw Lang is a teaching artist, director, and actress in the NY/NJ area. Samantha or “Ms. Sam” as many of her students call her, directs at various theater companies, and middle schools in NJ. (Most recently, Branchburg Central Middle School, Villagers Theatre, Papermill Playhouse, OnStage Theatre Camp, and Lois Allen, to name a few).
Samantha, holds a degree in theatre from Manhattanville College, and in addition to her formal training, has appeared in numerous film and television productions, and is a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild Union (SAG-AFTRA).
Samantha loves teaching and sharing her love for acting and singing with her students. She believes that theater should be fun, collaborative, and about story-telling. Samantha is so excited to be working with The Connection to host a musical theatre workshop and cannot wait to see what these young budding performers can do!
