Maintenance, P/T
The Connection is seeking a responsible, reliable person to join our Maintenance team. You will be responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of our facility. This includes sweeping, dry or wet mopping, trash removal, cleaning of men/women’s rooms and locker rooms. You will also be responsible to set up and break down class and meeting rooms including any cleaning that may be needed.
Qualifications
  • Must possess a working knowledge of general cleaning operations and methods, cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals and their safe application as stated on product labeling.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of facility maintenance (i.e. painting, plumbing, lighting, etc.)
  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and complete assignments with minimum supervision.
  • Must be knowledgeable and demonstrate safe work practices such as preventing trip hazards (cord use on vacuums), correct ladder use in changing light bulbs and cleaning windows, proper warning of wet or waxed floors, etc.
  • Must demonstrate an aptitude and desire to continually improve facility janitorial tasks to reduce costs while keeping the facility clean.
  • This position includes lifting, bending, stooping, standing, climbing, pulling, and reaching.
Hours
  • Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – 3:30pm– 10:30pm
  • Saturday – 6:30am – 12:00pm

Director of Operations and Facilities Management, F/T
The Connection, a leading nonprofit health and wellness organization in Summit, NJ is seeking a full-time, exempt Director of Operations and Facilities Management with a proven track record of ensuring the safety and security of a physical plant and its employees. The hands-on Director is responsible for all building operations, maintenance and major repairs supervising maintenance staff and external contractors/vendors. The position also oversees transportation (two school buses and drivers) and leads staff training and drills for medical and emergency procedures.

Bachelor’s Degree or demonstrated knowledge and success in job-related experience required.

School Bus Driver, P/T
The Connection, a leading community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ is seeking a part-time school bus driver. In this role, you will transport children to and from local schools during the school year.

Qualifications
  • CDL B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements
  • 5 year clean Drivers abstract
  • Valid DOT medical card and physical
  • All applicants for bus driver positions with The Connection are subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests.
Hours
  • Position available is morning hours (7:30am – 8:45am) and afternoon hours (2:30pm – 4:30pm) during the school year.
  • We offer a two-hour guarantee
  • Driving for our summer camp program is also available.
Compensation

Social Media Coordinator, P/T
The Connection in Summit, NJ is looking for an experienced and creative Social Media Coordinator to join their marketing team. The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing The Connection’s Social Media strategy in order to increase online presence and improve marketing efforts. Position reports to Marketing Co-Director.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Manages company social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms.
  • Works with members and staff to create dynamic written, graphic, and video content.   Analyzes and reports audience information and demographics, and success of existing social media projects.
  • Proposes new ideas and concepts for social media content.
  • Works with program directors to create content for blog posts.
  • Shoots and edits promotional videos to use on social media platforms.
  • Organizes and stewards Brand Ambassadors to increase the organization’s online presence in the communities served.
  • Creates content, publishes and tracks paid advertisements on social media.
Qualifications
  • BA in Marketing or related field or equivalent experience
  • Video editing skills
  • Graphic design skills
  • Knowledge of WordPress a plus
  • Knowledge of Photoshop a plus
  • Knowledge of Facebook Advertising a plus

Water Exercise Instructor, P/T
The Connection is seeking experienced Water Exercise instructor to join our team.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • You will provide a challenging exercise routine in either deep or shallow water that utilizes all major muscle groups in the body and challenges the cardiovascular system
  • You will instruct water exercise class in accordance with course description and curriculum goals established by Aquatics Director.
  • Instruct each class participant in a way that he/she understands class format, and is exercising in a manner which is both beneficial and safe.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of all class and program
Requirements
  • Experience teaching water exercise classes
  • First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguard Certification preferred
  • Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aide effectively
Hours
Current need – Fridays 9:00am -10:00am with extra hours as a substitute available

  • You will be responsible for teaching safe pool and water practices while instructing swimming skills and techniques.

  • Instruct each class participant in a way that he/she understands class format, and is swimming in a manner which is both beneficial and safe.

  • CPR and First Aid required or must be obtained within the first month of employment.
  • Must be mentally alert to dangerous situations in order to assure the safety of all swimmers.

Qualifications

      • Working knowledge of USAG JO compulsory through optional levels, USAG Xcel program, and USAIGC program.

Before and After School Program Assistants, P/T
The Connection, a community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ, is seeking experienced and responsible Before and After School Program Assistants. The ideal candidate has experience supervising groups of Elementary-aged youth and planning engaging activities. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the management of the program, building strong relationships with parents and families, and representing The Connection in the community.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with groups elementary-aged children;
  • Fun, active, and creative mindset toward working with children;
  • Some experience helping children with tasks, such as homework;
  • Ability to commit to a routine schedule with punctuality;
  • Must be able to provide own transportation.
Hours
  • Monday – Friday while school is in session, following the Summit Public Schools calendar.
  • Before School- 7:00am – 9:00am
  • After school – 2:45pm – 6:00pm

Special Needs Swim Lesson Volunteer
Our special needs swim lesson (S.N.S.L.) provides 45 minutes of instruction provided by our trained staff and volunteers. This program is designed to teach and improve each student’s swimming skills while working in a group environment to improve their focus, comfort, and overall understanding of safety in the pool. Volunteers are expected to motivate and facilitate the progression of goals for swimmers while keeping them safe in and around the water. Must be ages 15+ and comfortable in deep and shallow water.

Adapted Aquatics Volunteer
Volunteers will be working with special needs participants ages 3-adult with a variety of disabilities. Must be ages 15+ and comfortable in deep and shallow water. This one hour program provides individuals who are physically or intellectually challenged the opportunity to use the pool for exercise, learn basic swimming skills, be part of a social group, and play games while having fun in a safe aquatic environment. Volunteers are expected to motivate and facilitate the progression of goals for swimmers while keeping them safe in and around the water.

Drivers and Cooks for Pathways Cooks
Pathways cooks provide healthy, whole foods meals to women undergoing chemotherapy and their families. Drivers are needed on Wednesdays to deliver meals from 5:30pm – 6:30pm and would require between 30-60 minutes of driving time. Cooking volunteers are needed Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1-3:30 pm. Volunteers are needed to prep, cook, clean up or deliver meals. Two-hour shifts or full shifts are both welcome.
