Lifeguard –NEW SUMMER RATE FOR LIFEGUARDS!

The Connection in Summit, NJ, is seeking Lifeguards to join our team this summer. In this position you will work with the children in our summer camp program and:

  • You will monitor swimming areas and provides assistance and protection to users of the pool and aquatic facility
  • You will ensure the safety of patrons of the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies as a lifeguard.
  • You will supervise and guard the pool and aquatic facility and ensure participants adhere to all Connection aquatic guidelines and procedures.
  • Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
Requirements
  • Lifeguard Certification.
  • First Aid and CPR certified.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aide effectively.
Hours

Summer camp swim hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 3pm

Compensation

Our summer rate is $16.00 per hour for hours worked June 1, 2022 – August 31, 2022

Swim Instructor

The Connection in Summit, NJ, known for its excellent aquatic programs, is seeking experienced swim instructors to join our team. In this position:

  • You will be responsible for teaching safe pool and water practices to each student while instructing swimming skills and techniques in a manner which is both beneficial and safe.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all class and program participants during youth and/or adult classes.
Requirements
  • Experience teaching swim classes. Must be comfortable with teaching all age groups.
  • Lifeguard/CPR/AED required. Will be required to take on lifeguarding shifts.
  • Must comply with all safety protocols including those regarding precautions for COVID-19
  • Must be mentally alert to dangerous situations to assure the safety of all swimmers.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aid effectively.

Weekdays from 3:30-6:30p and Saturdays from 9a-12p

Water Exercise Instructor

The Connection in Summit, NJ, known for its excellent aquatic programs, is seeking an experienced Water Exercise Instructor to join our team. In this position:

  • You will provide a challenging exercise routine in either deep or shallow water that utilizes all major muscle groups in the body and challenges the cardiovascular system.
  • You will instruct the water exercise class in accordance with course description and curriculum goals established by Aquatics Director.
  • Instruct each class participant in a way that he/she understands the class format and is exercising in a manner that is both beneficial and safe.
Qualifications
  • Experience teaching water exercise classes
  • First Aid and CPR required. Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aide effectively
  • Lifeguard Certification preferred

Part Time Member Services Representative
The Connection, a community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ is seeking a reliable part time Member Services Representative. As a part of the member services team, you will work as registrar, cashier and receptionist while providing excellent customer service. You will provide information to members, volunteers and the public on The Connection activities and programs.

Qualifications
  • Customer service experience is required. Previous/current work in a non-profit or fitness center environment is preferred.
  • The Connection uses Daxko operations membership management software. Knowledge of the software is not required but the willingness and ability to learn it is.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish highly desirable.

IT Director
The Connection, a community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ, is is seeking a full time professional with a proven track record to serve as IT Director. This position is on-site at The Connection in Summit, NJ.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role your will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and administering computer network, including hardware, systems and applications software, and all configurations.
  • Providing technical support and training, database and website management.
  • Developing and maintaining on-line registration system.
  • Providing support for the phone system and the building’s A/V needs.
  • Creating reports using Excel formulas.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Must have knowledge of network security and experience with content management systems such as WordPress.

Social Media Coordinator

The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing The Connection’s Social Media strategy in order to increase online presence and improve marketing efforts.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Manages company social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms.
  • Photographs classes and programs to use on social media.
  • Works with members and staff to create engaging content.
  • Works with program directors to create content for blog posts.
  • Shoots and edits promotional videos to use on social media platforms.
  • Organizes and stewards Brand Ambassadors to increase the organization’s online presence in the communities served.
  • Creates content, publishes, and tracks paid advertisements on social media.

Full-Time Development and Fundraising Associate
The Connection, a community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ, is seeking a Full-Time Development and Fundraising Associate to join our team. This position is on-site at The Connection in Summit, NJ. In this role you will be responsible for assisting the Associate Executive Director in fundraising and volunteer initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and coordinating the back office processes, systems and reporting for The Connection’s fundraising efforts.
  • Maintaining the database; Producing gift reports and other financial, analytical, statistical and demographic reports.
  • Handling all logistics for email and mail solicitations.
  • Entering and processing all gifts into database and managing the acknowledgement process.
  • Providing office support for development functions and events.

Maintenance Worker, Part-Time
The Connection, a community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ, is seeking a Part-Time Maintenance Worker to join our team. In this role you will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
  • Performing preventative maintenance.
  • Handling basic repairs and maintenance.
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Report to Director of Operations and Facilities Management regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Custodian, Part-Time
The Connection, a community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ, is seeking a Part-Time Custodian to join our team.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

            • Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of total building. This includes sweeping, dry or wet mopping, trash removal, cleaning of men/women’s rooms, etc.
            • Sets up class and meeting rooms (tables, chairs, blackboards, audio/visual, etc.). Reports any problem that may have occurred to the Director of Operations and Facilities Management.
            • Maintains adequate supplies of supplies (electrical, papers, cleaning, etc.) required, reporting to Director of Operations and Facilities Management the need for replacement of supplies.
            • Reports to Director of Operations and Facilities Management anything needing repair and makes minor repairs.
            • Possess a working knowledge of general cleaning operations and methods, cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals and their safe application as stated on product labeling.
            • Possess a basic knowledge of facility maintenance (i.e. light painting, light plumbing, changing lights, etc.).
            • Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and complete assignments with minimum supervision.
            • Possess knowledge of and demonstrate safe work practices such as preventing trip hazards, correct ladder use in changing light bulbs and cleaning windows, proper warning of wet or waxed floors, etc.
            • Demonstrates an aptitude and desire to continually improve facility janitorial tasks to reduce costs while keeping the facility clean
            • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
            • Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds; may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials.

Gymnastics Coach
Looking for professional, mature, positive, energetic, and reliable coaches/instructors to join our growing program.  Must work well with other staff members in a team environment. Our program is delivered in a positive and progressive environment. We provide an opportunity for gymnasts of all levels to learn and to develop life skills that will be with them when they leave the gym. 

Opportunity to coach USAG levels 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, Xcel Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Depending on interest, experience, knowledge and availability, coaching responsibilities are available as an assistant or in a lead role to continue developing excellence and team growth for all levels. Additional hours are available in the class program.

Responsibilities, experience and background requirements may include but are not limited to:
            • Commitment to providing a safe positive environment for all participants.
            • Coaching recreational teams (Xcel), pre team, and competitive development program teams.
            • Working knowledge of USAG compulsory levels 3-5, and optional levels 6-7, Xcel program Silver-Diamond.
            • Coaching experience that demonstrates instruction using correct technique and excellence in execution.

Youth Specialty Programs Director
The Connection, a community-based non-profit in Summit, NJ is looking for an experienced and creative part-time Youth Specialty Programs Director. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and management of all parent/child, preschool, and school-age youth programming.

Roles and Responsibilities
            • Supervises, manages, and develops all youth specialty classes and programs such as sports and fitness, cooking, art, music, STEM-based classes, and birthday parties.
            • Assists with recruitment and then trains and supervises staff for youth specialty programs and birthday parties.
            • Serves as an instructor for designated youth programs and fills in when necessary to ensure the continuation of all programs.
            • Acts as an instructor an average of 45% of the time including possible off-site locations, or during school break sessions and camp.
Requirements
            • Successful track record of developing, teaching, and managing youth classes such as sports and fitness, cooking, art, music, STEM-based, and birthday parties.

Dance and beginner through intermediate tumbling teaching experience is required. Additional training will be provided to the right candidate.

            • Instruction experience in beginner to advanced level gymnastics and Warrior Challenge classes.

Counselor In Training (CIT)

Our Counselors In Training Program is perfect for 14 and 15-year-old students.
